We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Driftlog on Apple devices you own or control, in line with the App Store Terms of Service and Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement. You own your travel records; you do not own the app itself.
You may not sell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the app, nor attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract its source, except where local law expressly permits it regardless of this restriction.
Driftlog is free to download. Its full functionality is unlocked by a single one-time in-app purchase. There is no subscription and no recurring charge. The current price is shown in the App Store for your region before you buy, and prices may differ between regions and change over time.
All payments are processed by Apple. We never see or handle your card details. Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us — request one through Apple's Report a Problem flow or your purchase history. We cannot issue, approve, or reverse a refund on Apple's behalf, though you are welcome to contact us if something has gone wrong.
Purchases are tied to your Apple Account and can be restored on your devices using the restore option in the app.
Driftlog builds a personal record of the countries, regions and cities you pass through, from device location and from the location metadata in your photos. It is a keepsake and a personal log.
It is not a navigation tool, a safety or emergency service, a fitness or medical device, and it is not an authoritative record. Do not rely on it for:
Location data on any phone is approximate. Signal, battery saving, airplane mode, permission changes, iOS background limits, photos taken with location turned off, and travel through areas with poor coverage all cause gaps or errors. Border detection near a frontier can be wrong. Place names come from Apple's geocoder and reflect its data, not ours. Expect the log to be incomplete and occasionally mistaken, and verify anything that matters.
Your records are stored only on your device. We operate no servers that hold your data, and we hold no copy of it. That has a direct consequence you should understand before you rely on the app:
Keeping your own backups and exports is your responsibility. We are not able to restore anything for you.
Use Driftlog lawfully. In particular, do not use it to track, monitor, or record the movements of another person without their knowledge and consent, and do not use it anywhere that recording your location would be unlawful. You are responsible for how you use the app and for complying with the laws that apply to you.
We may update Driftlog, change or remove features, or stop distributing it. We aim to keep a one-time purchase meaningful, and we do not intend to move paid features behind a subscription. Compatibility with future versions of iOS and future devices cannot be guaranteed, and the app may stop working on hardware or iOS versions we no longer support.
Driftlog is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its records will be complete or accurate. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shiori Studio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for any loss of data, records, profits, or opportunity, arising from your use of or inability to use Driftlog. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you actually paid for the app.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, and for our own intentional misconduct or gross negligence. Where mandatory consumer-protection law applies to you, including Japan's Consumer Contract Act, its provisions prevail over anything in this section. Your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.
Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for Driftlog or its contents. Apple has no obligation to provide any support or maintenance for the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Any claim that the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty may be directed to Apple, which may refund the purchase price; beyond that, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app.
These terms apply for as long as you use Driftlog. You may end them at any time by deleting the app. We may end your licence if you materially breach these terms. Sections 3, 4, 7, 8 and 9 survive termination.
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. If you are a consumer resident outside Japan, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence, and nothing in these terms deprives you of them or of the right to bring proceedings in the courts of that country where the law gives you that right.
We may revise these terms from time to time. Revisions are published on this page and the "Last updated" date above is changed accordingly. Continuing to use Driftlog after a revision means you accept it. If a change is significant, we will make reasonable efforts to highlight it.
