Travel tracker apps with no subscription

Store pages read on 4 October 2026  ·  by Aki Takashima, Shiori Studio

Yes, several. On their US App Store pages on 4 October 2026, ten of the twenty travel trackers I compared list no subscription at all: Driftlog ($6.99, once), Mark O'Travel (Traveler Pro $9.99), Fog of World ($30.00 to buy), Mapsake, FindPenguins and OwnTracks (no in-app purchases listed), Countries Been (Remove Ads $1.99), and Skratch, Places Been and Photo Map (one-time packs and upgrades). Seven more sell a lifetime or one-time item next to their subscription.

Where I stand. I make Driftlog, one of the apps on this page, so weigh what follows accordingly. I have tried to say where the other apps are the better choice.

No subscription listed at all

I am going by the item names on each store page: none of these ten lists an item with a weekly, monthly or yearly period. The two built-in features at the bottom are free.

A subscription, with a one-time price next to it

These seven list weekly, monthly or yearly plans and also an item with no period in its name. A store page does not say what a one-time item unlocks, so check inside the app before you pay.

Why the difference matters for a travel map

A travel map is something you keep for ten or twenty years. That is the whole point of it. A $34.99 yearly plan is $350 over a decade, and the map stops being yours to add to when you stop paying. A one-time price is paid once. Neither is wrong. A journal with a feed and printed books has running costs that a map on your phone does not.

Prices also move. Between my reading on 21 September 2026 and this one, Stampie Pro went from $29.99 to $79.99.

How this page was made. I make Driftlog, one of the apps on this page. Prices, privacy labels and ratings were read from each app's own US App Store page on 4 October 2026, and Android availability from Google Play. I have not tested every app here; what I say about other people's apps is what their store pages say. A store page shows at most ten in-app purchases, and prices change, so follow the link before you decide. Nobody paid to be on this page. If something is wrong or out of date, email me at shiori.sutudio@gmail.com and I will fix it. The full table of twenty apps is on the comparison page.
